Meeting of the Brazilian-Slovak Chamber of Commerce in November 2023

The 9th meeting of the members of the Brazilian-Slovak Chamber of Commerce (BSCC) was held on 29 November 2023 at the Embassy of Brazil. In this session, the newly appointed Ambassador of Brazil to Slovakia, Mr. Gabriel Boff Moreira, introduced himself to the members and presented his vision of a more active and dynamic Chamber. He further outlined the current political dimension of bilateral relations, mentioned the trade and economic potential between Brazil and Slovakia and answered questions from the members.

The President of the BSCC, Mr. Milan Cigáň, in view of the assumption of the new post at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced his resignation as President of the BSCC and thanked the members for the past four years. Mr. Oldřich Holiš, who has a long experience not only in business but also in other areas, especially the promotion of Brazil, its culture and economy, was elected by acclamation the new President of the BSCC for the next two-year period.

Various other topics were further discussed at the meeting, including the admission of new members to the BSCC, namely EMBRACO and SSM Solar do Brasil. It was also suggested to organize meetings more often and to hold sessions with local Slovak authorities and with guests from Brazil as well, mentioning in particular experts from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (APEX). In order to organize the activities of the BSCC and give direction to its work, it was also proposed to elaborate the Chamber´s work program for 2024.
